How To Install A License:

     Support Home   Installation FAQ

A new installation has two steps: software installation and license installation. Both steps are very easy so any Windows user can do this him or her self. it does require admistrator previllages to install software in most cases, so you may need IT help if your computer is locked down.

Software Installation
Unzip the installation file into a local folder, and double click the .msi file and follow the on screen instructions to finish the installation. You do not need to quit other applications or restart your computer. When you are done, just look on the Start|Programs|ZetaWare menu for Trinity.

If you are installing a new version of the program it may ask yout to Remove or Repair the installation, choose Remove and click OK. Then run the install file again and it will install normally.

If you run into errors installing, this page would be a good place to find solutions.

Standalone License Installation
When you run Trinity the first time on your PC, you will be asked to install a license. Your choices are:
  1. Install a standalone license,
  2. Install a floating network license or,
  3. Register to an existing floating network license file.
For a standalone license, choose option 1. and click OK, you will be given a reference code and asked for a license key. E-mail us the reference code and we will e-mail the license key back to you. The reference code and license key are unique to your PC's hardware and will not work on another machine.

If you get errors installing a license, please see this page about permissions.

Network Floating License Installation
For a network license, the software is still installed locally on each user's PC, only the license files are installed on a network drive visible to other users.

  1. Create a license folder on the network drive. This folder should be permanent and have write permission for all users.
  2. Install and launch Trinity from the server or any user's workstation. Select option 2 (Install a floating network license) in the license installation dialog. Then enter the path (or browse to the folder using the ... button) where the license files will be installed. For instance, you may use "N:\Software\ZetaWare\License\". Preferably, we recommend using the UNC path, such as "\\LICSERVER\Software\ZetaWare\License\". Click OK.
  3. You will be given a reference code and asked for a license key. E-mail us the reference code and the full UNC license path and we will e-mail the license key back to you. The reference code and license key are unique to the server PC's hardware and will not work on another machine.
If you get errors installing a license, please see this page about permissions.
Network Floating License Registration
To allow other users to use the license, install and launch Trinity (Run as administrator) on each PC. In the dialog that comes up, select option 3. "Register to an existing floating network license". Then enter or browse to the same network folder the license is installed from the first PC and click OK. Please note : The correct path for the license is the path we used to create the license, for example "N:\\Software\ZetaWare\License\" is the correct license folder, NOT the folder with a long numerical name inside it. Click OK. Once licensed, standard user can use Trinity without elevation (ie. Ran as administrator).

If you need to register more machines to use the license, you may use a Registry script. In the registry, export the following key "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Acudata" as a .reg file. On each machine, double click the exported file (Merge) and click OK. This will save the license registration step.

Again, If you run into errors, please see this page about permissions.
